With little hands just aching to bake something, these jam tarts allow lots of rolling, patting and filling. These are great to make for an imaginary tea party or for an after dinner snack. Use your favorite type of jam. We like raspberry and strawberry the best. Get creative and try different kinds of fillings--such as pudding, custard and more. With a little practice, your kids will be cutting out tarts like a bakery pro. Be sure to sing the famous nursery rhyme as you make these: The queen of hearts, she made some tarts, all on a summer's day. The knave of hearts, he stole the tarts...

Jam Tarts

What you need:

Frozen pie crust dough, thawed (or make and roll out your own homemade pie crust dough)
Jam, your favorite flavor
Cinnamon and sugar to taste

What you do:

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

2. Lay out thawed dough on a lightly floured surface.

3. Cut pastry into circles using a lightly floured glass rim, cookie cutter, etc. Circles should be just about 1/2 inch wider than a muffin tin.

4. Place a cut pastry circle into a lightly greased muffin tin, pinching the dough up the sides of the cup to create a pastry cup. Repeat until all muffin tins are full of dough.

5. Add 1 tablespoon of jam to the center of the pastry. Sprinkle lightly with sugar and cinnamon. Repeat with all pastry cups.

6. Bake for 15 minutes or until pastry is cooked and lightly browned. Let cool on a wire rack, then remove tarts from tins.

Be Careful! Jam may be a little hot when just out of the oven.
