Your kids will love these dessert recipes that are supposed to look gross but, actually, they taste quite good

Let's face it--kids love the idea of eating gross foods. Think of the popular book (now a movie) of How To Eat Fried Worms. It's no secret that the twins on Rugrats like to eat worms and bugs. Eating bugs and worms is forbidden, and therefore fun and exciting and altogether silly. These are treats that taste better than they look! Kids love the gross-out factor, yet they are cute enough to serve at a birthday party or as an after school snack. With these recipes, your children can make and eat bugs and worms that you'd actually approve of.

Dirt and Worms Dessert

4 cups chocolate pudding
10 chocolate cookies (Oreo-like cookies separated from the cream)
12 gummy worms
4 serving cups or mugs

Place chocolate cookies in a zippered plastic bag and seal tightly. With the bottom of a cup or a rolling pin, crush cookies until they turn into crumbs. Spoon 1/2 cup of chocolate pudding into the bottom of the cup. Place about 2 tablespoons of crumbs on top. Add another 1/2 cup of pudding to each cup. Stick gummy worms into the top of the pudding so that most of the worm is showing. Cover the tops of each pudding cup with cookie crumbs. Place in refrigerator for about 15 minutes before serving. Serves 4.

Swallowed a Fly Snack

6 large marshmallows
24 strands of licorice
8 round cookies (like vanilla wafers)
1 can vanilla frosting
8 chocolate chips

Take 2 large marshmallows and spread one end of each with frosting. Stick the marshmallows together at the frosted ends to create the fly body. Take 6 strands of licorice and gently pierce the sides of the marshmallow to create legs (3 on each side). With the frosting, dab a quarter-sized blob on the fly's "back" and gently press two round cookies into it to create wings. Finally, frost the bottom of two chocolate chips and place them at the "head" to create eyes. Repeat until you have 4 flies. Serves 4.

15 Minute Moment
Play checkers with homework. Make a numbered list of 18 spelling words or math problems. Write the numbers onto small pieces of paper and gently tape them to different squares on the board. Whoever lands on a square has to solve or spell before completing their turn.
