I have many fond memories of just hanging out and talking with my mother as we baked things. Now, my son and older daughter beg to "help out." So, I'm always on the lookout for kid-friendly recipes where they can do most of the measuring and cooking steps on their own.
This is the easiest cookie recipe in the world for kids to make. Parents only need to supervise for the most part, and work the oven and hot cookie trays.
Easy Chocolate Cookies
1 chocolate cake mix
2 eggs
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 cup baking chips (any kind, but we like white chocolate best!)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together cake mix, eggs and oil in a large bowl until mixed completely. Then pour chips in and gently mix together. Drop small balls of dough onto a greased baking tray.
Bake 9 to 12 minutes then remove from pan and cool on a wire rack. Makes about 3 dozen.
15 Minute Moment
Encourage your child to draw a fancy new hat for the book character, The Cat in the Hat. Make sure it is crazy--Dr. Seuss style. For older children, have them pick their favorite book character and draw them in a funky new hat.
