Decoupage Valentine Vase
Published Jan 4, 2007 by jjmaughanWhat you need: Magazines and catalogs to cut up A glass vase, glass soda bottle or glass wine bottle Scissors Glue stick (for younger kids) Mod Podge Paint brush Decorative ribbon
What you do: 1. Cut out pictures and words from the magazines and catalogs. Try to find 2 or 3 larger images and then you can accent them with lots of smaller words and images. Go for a theme, such as "Love," "Puppies," "Spring" or whatever you want.
2. When you have all the images cut out, use the glue stick to adhere the pictures to the vase. Older kids can brush Mod Podge on the back and glue pictures to the bottle. I've found the glue stick is easier for younger kids.
3. When all the images are in place, paint a thin layer over the top of the whole vase, pictures and all. This acts as a sealing top coat.
4. Let the first coat dry completely (at least 30 minutes) and apply another thin coat. Let that dry as well.
5. Tie the decorative ribbon around the neck of the vase and it's ready for your favorite flowers--silk or real!
*15 Minute Moment* Take turns remembering favorite lines from your best loved movies and see if the other person can guess which movie they came from.
