Unless you live in a state that doesn't grow corn, there is definitely a corn maze within easy driving distance. A corn maze is a fun family activity where getting lost means finding adventure! Most corn maze organizations have added extra attractions, such as inflatable jumping toys, petting zoos, hay rides, Dutch oven cooking, and more. Some places offer several levels of mazes, while others feature one gigantic puzzle to solve. Wear good shoes and take jackets. A corn maze is a great way to enjoy some farmin' fun!

There are several different types of corn mazes, so choose according to your children's ages and interests.

Preschool Children: Make sure you go to the corn maze during the day. Call ahead to ask about the scary level. Usually, the big chills are reserved for night and most places will have a tame kiddie version either during the day or at a separate nearby maze. Often, there are cutesy characters that pass out candy at certain points in the maze. Choose a setup with a petting zoo for maximum enjoyment.

Elementary Children: Depending on their love of scary Halloween stuff, choose a more creepy corn maze, but go during the late afternoon or early evening before it gets completely dark. Even though your kids may claim to want to go in the pitch black, it's probably not a good idea.

Mixed Age Children: Make sure there are two grown-ups so one can go with the younger set, and one can accompany the older kids on the scary maze. Don't worry about getting lost inside a maze as most will have checkpoints, guides and secret exits.
