Christmas Cookie Cookbooks

Baking Christmas cookies is one of the best ways to get together with your kids and talk, laugh and play. It requires a warm kitchen, some easy recipes, and lots of delicious ingredients. You should make plenty of cookies to last your family for about 24 hours (much less at my house) and plan on delivering a plate of goodies to a deserving neighbor. Stick to recipes that allow everyone to participate, from preschoolers who can use cookie cutters to older kids who can decorate sugar cookies with delicate precision.

These cookbooks should give you a jump start:

Mom's Big Book of Cookies: 200 Family Favorites You'll Love Making and Your Kids Will Love Eating by Lauren Chattman. There are hundreds of classic recipes here that will keep your kitchen hopping through the Christmas season and longer. Betty Crocker's Cookie Book: More Than 250 of America's Best-Loved Cookies by Betty Crocker. It's Betty Crocker so you know it'll be good.

The Kids' Holiday Baking Book: 150 Favorite Dessert Recipes from Around the World by Rosemary Black. Recipes are specifically designed to be kid-friendly. The Christmas Cookie Book by Lou Seibert and Frankie Frankeny. Recipes are broken down into the best ones for kids, best ones to deliver and ship, and so forth. *15 Minute Moment* Do research on a local charity, and work together as a family to raise money for a donation.
