Children's Book Council

Published Dec 19, 2006 by jjmaughan

The Children's Book Council, Inc. is the nonprofit trade association of publishers and packagers of trade books and related materials for children and young adults. The goals of the Children's Book Council are to promote reading and make it an essential part of childhood. Reading can equip them with the skills needed to become successful adults. They have a fantastic website that features quite a few goodies for parents seeking to help their children get into reading.

There is an up to date and fairly comprehensive reading list that focuses on categories such as Outstanding International Books and 75 Authors and Illustrators Everyone Should Know.

Some of the other features of the Children's Book Council website are the details about Young People's Poetry week. It's a chance for youngsters to celebrate the medium of poetry by focusing on reading it and trying a hand at writing it.

Another fun corner of the website is the Children's Book Week information. Held every November, this week highlights reading and promotes interest and excitement for books.
