Do you have all those summer vacation photos sitting in a drawer? Here is an easy craft that kids can do to set off that one special picture that reminds you all of summer 2006. It's easy enough for kids to do on their own, but be sure to supervise the hot glue gun.
What you need:
CD jewel case (what a CD comes in)
Glue gun
Magnet strips or dots
Scissors (specialty scissors are fun for this)
Construction paper
Puff paint
Glue stick
Pencil
Markers
Pictures
Paint pens
Decorations (feathers, beads, fake jewels, etc.)
What you do:
- Pop open the middle piece of the CD case where the CD rests and remove the back jacket. Replace the middle piece.
- Trace the outline of the front CD flap onto your picture so you can see how large it needs to be (usually these cases measure 4 3/4" x 4 11/16"). Cut it to fit the frame.
- If your picture is not big enough, cut a piece of construction paper to fit.
- Glue picture to the construction paper.
- Slide the picture into the little tabs and shut the case.
- Glue the magnets on the back of the CD case and let them cool.
- Decorate the front of the case with paint pens or puff paint and by gluing on assorted decorative accessories.
- Now you can place the picture case on any magnetic surface, like the fridge.

Describe your ultimate ice cream sundaes to each other, layer by layer and topping by topping. Think of a funky fun name for it if it were to be sold in an ice cream store.
