Many of our feathered friends will be heading south for the winter, so take advantage of their passing by filling up your bird feeders and observing them with your child. You can also bring along your real binoculars to study the birds up close.
What you need:
- 2 cardboard toilet paper rolls
- 1 sheet construction paper, any color
- 1 hole punch
- yarn
- Stickers, glitter glue, or any other decorating items
- Clear tape
- Measure and cut construction paper so that it will wrap around each toilet paper tube.
- Tape construction paper around each tube, covering completely.
- Decorate the tubes with stickers, etc.
- Tape the two tubes together, binocular style.
- Punch a hole in the outer sides of each tube and tie the yarn to the binoculars. Make sure the yarn length allows the binoculars to hang at the child's chest level.
Now you and your child can go watch birds and other creatures, real and imaginary!
